I remember the first time I went to this place a social dance party was going on. Salsa, bachata and that sort of things. Since I’m a not-so-good (or better said, I have my own style) dancer, I just sat down and enjoyed a glass of red wine while checked the decoration and the dim light that was making of it a very unique and mystique place.

Formerly known as La Bodega del ToroGaleria Urbana is a mixture of restaurant, art gallery, social club & good vibes place. The food price is of average but the taste of it gets a higher-than-average grading. Located in the very main street of Kaunas’ old town, it offers a good place to both enjoy a quite sophisticated meal or a very artsy drink. Or both. Or none. It’s all up to you.

One of the coolest things is that in summer and until mid-autumn they open a terrace to the bustling Vilnius street in Kaunas. Terraces are good for socialising. Very good in fact.

I’m going there quite often, and I would totally recommend you to check their facebook page and if you happen to be in Kaunas, go try their mediterranean inspired menu!

This is technically not a Fateuser Eats. Mint Vinetu (Vilnius, Lithuania) is a Book Store & Tea Place. I was there in September 2014, the same day I ate in Drama Burger. First of all, I would like to say that the Chai Tea that I had was quite tasty, so it was the coffee that my friend @faufainis had. The place itself is amazing. Very quiet, full of books and a couple of dogs (I wonder if they will still be around) welcoming the new and old customers. It is definitely a recommended chill and relax place. It reminded me (in a way) of when I was in Paris in the Shakespeare and Company library. Plenty of books everywhere. Oh, and also in Mint Vinetu you can listen to a great music selection and grab the books they have there. Tea (or coffee) and books. Such a perfect combo.

Can’t wait to go back there again!

When my friends and I heard that there was a new Mexican Cuisine restaurant opening in town we decided that we should definitely go there. The restaurant is located in the old town of the city, and it has both Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes to offer. The prices are a bit higher than the average and the amount of food per serving is not too much. Maybe it’s because I got spoiled when I was in Mexico a few years ago. Or maybe it is because I like to eat a lot.

In the restaurant they have tons of different types of Tequila, so if you are into that drink, it’s the place to go to!

I don’t know if I’m going back there again, but you should give it a try!

When I entered into this place I didn’t really know what I was expecting. This is not a very popular spot and yet, they probably have the best burgers in Kaunas. Domino Bistro, located in the heart of the Old Town in Kaunas, has a very raw and minimalist style, that reminds me of the one in Drama Burger (Vilnius). But I have to say that the burger was better in Domino Bistro. The price is also cheaper. The amount of food that you get is the perfect one, not too much, not too little. Also, you don’t feel that you are eating sauce and not natural ingredients (as you would feel in some fast food restaurants). Well cooked and better presented.

I totally recommend you to go there.

That was my first time ever in a place that masters the burger making technique. Drama Burger, found in the city center of Vilnius, has a very raw and minimalist style. The burgers were very tasty. You could try within a wide range of meats and types of bread and other food and veggies to put into the burger. The size wasn’t so big but enough to fulfill your belly. Or at least mine. The price is a bit higher of the average in Lithuania, and they don’t give you french fries with the burger, you have to pay for them separately. Oh, and for the sauce too. But I think it’s totally worth it. Probably it is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. If you plan to go, ask for the home made lemonade. I will totally come back there.

Fateuser Eats: Flamenco (Kaunas, Lithuania)

flamenco

  • Price: 1 starter + 2 main courses + 2 beers = 10 – 15 €
  • Hours:  Mon-Thu: 11:00 – 23:00 | Fri-Sat: 11:00 – 02:00 | Sun: 11:00 – 23:00
  • Cuisine: Spanish cuisine.
  • The Review: This one might be one of my favorite restaurants here in Kaunas. I’ve probably been here about 20 times and still like it (well, it makes sense, if I didn’t like it that much I wouldn’t probably have come that often). They opened in 2010 and at the beginning I was a bit curious about how would be the spanish cuisine here in Kaunas. Well, if you expect to have the typical patatas bravas or the best paella from Valencia you shouldn’t come here. Because basically, as it happens everywhere, you can’t find the exact meals in other places outside from the original country. But, even though they aren’t 100% as the originals (I’d rather qualify them with a well earned 91%) they are delicious. The service is quite good (even though sometimes, depending if it’s full or not you have to wait a lot) and they speak english fluently (something really helpful when it’s your first time here in Kaunas). The decoration brings you to a secret (well, not that secret since they are located in the main street) spanish spot with nice music and great lighting. It’s the perfect place to chill and enjoy a great meal. If you decide to go, I would recommend you to take the big spanish sandwich and of course, don’t forget the patatas bravas with alioli.

  • Cuisine: French cuisine.
  • The Review: For a long long time I wanted to visit and taste the food of this restaurant. From outside looks so cozy and once that you get inside of it you realize that it is really sightly. Really good vibes. The place is located in the heart of Kaunas’ Old Town, really close to the greek restaurant Rhodos. The food is a truly tasty and french food. Ok, I’m not an expert in gallic food, I’ve just been about 4 times in France, but from what I remember, the piquancy of those delicacies was quite similar.  We had French Salad with baguette covered with goat cheese which was flavorful and also Duck à l’orange. I would qualify this dish as Mouthgasmic. Even though the portions aren’t really big (if you are really hungry I would recommend you to have a starter, a main course and probably dessert) they were tasty enough to satisfy me. We accompanied our dinner with a white wine called  Couleurs du sud, Chardonnay, 2009 which was, in fact, sweet and easy to drink.

  • Location: Sausio 13-osios 10 LT-2050 Vilnius, Lithuania
  • Price: Snack + Main Course + Dessert  + Drink = 50 – 70Lt (14,5 – 20 €) | The entrance costs 21Lt (6€)
  • Hours:  Mon-Sun 10:00 – 22:00.
  • Cuisine: Worldwide.
  • The Review: It was the first time I was visiting the Vilnius TV tower (a really emblematic lithuanian construction). The price of the ascension to the restaurant (located at the height of 165 metres) is a bit expensive from my point of view but the sightseeing really deserves the price. The restaurant is a rotating one. I discovered it when I was sitting at the table and looking the lithuanian sunset and suddenly I realized that we were moving. Quite cool. The first one (and hopefully not the last one) I’ve ever been. The food wasn’t anything impressive, I had an apple pie with ice cream with an acorn coffee (really tasty actually). The best thing was the view of Vilnius.

  • Hours:  Mon-Sun 10:00 – 00:00.
  • Cuisine: Greek Cuisine.
  • The Review: Found in the heart of Kaunas’ old town, Rhodos is a new (2012) Greek restaurant. Really nice ambient with an exceptional food. I ordered the Dolma (a mixture of minced meat and rice surrounded by vineyard leave) which was especially delicious. Also I had the Pita (greek bread with olive oil) which was also really tasty. This last one is nothing really hard to make, but still. Great vibes accompanied with the dim light that you can see in the picture upwards.
