All the things I want to achieve in 2015.

forest mission-22

Hey there lovely fateuser.com readers! How’ve you been? I have been quite off from the media world for a while now. But I’m really excited to get back and have much energy and stories to tell.

Before the 2014 year finished, I wrote a post about all the things that I wanted to achieve and what I really did.

2014 was a quite exciting year for me. I did so many things. In fact, it probably was the best year of my life so far. It wasn’t just luck. I worked hard and put some (quite a lot) effort in it to make a super-wonderful-fantastic year.

Nevertheless, when I was coming back to Lithuania on the 3rd of January, I couldn’t help but think about all the things that 2015 will bring and all the plans I want to do.

So ladies and gents, getting to the point, here are All the things I want to achieve in 2015.

1. Tavel as much as I can.

For 2014 I wanted to visit 5 new countries. And it didn’t happen. For this year, I’m not planning to visit X number of countries, I just want to visit as many new places as my time & money allow me to.

2. Eat healthier.

I am not a junk food addict. My favorite drink is water. I do eat veggies. The only thing I don’t eat is fried eggs. I don’t really know why, it’s just that I don’t like them. So dude, you already eat healthy, don’t you? I could say yes. But I’m going to go for a no. Sometimes, what I used to do is open my fridge and eat as much food as I find (e.g. sausages, cheese, tomatoes, chocolate) until I was totally full. And that was my lunch. Also, I’m a restaurant lover. But I totally can’t afford going to restaurants every day. Not even three times per week. Oh, and let’s don’t forget the munchies. Snacks. Sweets. That’s why, this year I want to cook for myself more often, try to reduce to 0 my intake of snacks and eat a proper and balanced diet. Yes mum, this time I’m going to try really hard.

3. Run a marathon.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you probably know that I love running. Even though right now I’m not running at all (call me weirdo but running with icy streets where you can die it’s not really my thing) I do enjoy the feeling of my heartbeat speeding up and sweating a t-shirt. Last year, my friend and I became half marathon finishersIt was one of the best experiences of 2014. This year I want to step up the game and go for the full marathon. Do you think I’ll be able to finish it? Make your bets!

4. Read more.

I do read a lot of articles on the internet. And also I do read a lot of uni papers and medical books. That’s not the type of reading that I mean. I have approximately 8 books at my place (here in Kaunas) that I haven’t read because I didn’t find the time to attack them. This year, I’m going to organize my free time better and I’m going to read at least one book per month. And to prove it, month after month, I’ll make a short review of it on my blog. Yeah, exactly the same kind of homework that I was doing for high school. It seems that some stuff never changes.

5. Step outside my comfort zone more often.

Bungee jumping. Solo backpacking. Talking in public. Heights. Aerostatic  All these four things have one common factor, they terrify me (in a different magnitude of course). But yet, they are things that I want to do. I have been to high places before and so I have spoken to many people too. I just want to fight those fears and overcome them. It never gets easier, you just get better.

6. Re-learn a not-that-new language.

As a child, I was always talking to my parents and family in Catalan and Spanish. So I grew up being a bilingual person. Later on, in elementary school I started learning english. It was only in secondary school when I started learning my fourth language, French. I studied French grammar, vocabulary, phonetics and all the rest of the things that you study when you learn a language for 6 years. Right now my Lithuanian is way better than my French. And that’s sad. Not because I don’t like Lithuanian (in fact I sort of have a crush for this old-and-mystic-baltic language) it’s because I almost completely lost one language. When I first came to Lithuania in 2010 my English and French languages were quite similar (i.e. I sucked a lot in both). But still I was able to hold a conversation. Now not anymore. And it upsets me quite a lot. That’s why, this 2015 I’ll look for a way to practice my french (if there’s any french speaker reading this, please contact me, I can provide you love in exchange). In fact, at the end of this 2015 I want to be able to make a video for my YouTube channel in which I will tell in French all the things that I would have done this year. It will have English subtitles too. Wish me luck!

7. Work on my punctuality.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m Spanish and my mediterranean-latino soul doesn’t let me, but I’m late sometimes. Not that often as it used to be but still. And I don’t like that. I will try to not be late (if there’s not a major cause that impedes me) never again from now on. As once a good friend of mine told me «Punctuality is the politeness of Kings».  It is time to behave as a King then.

8. Publish twice a week exclusive content for you.

You, the people that follow what I do are my ultimate motivators to keep me doing this. I do love when I get a new comment (I don’t like them very much when they come from haters) and I can see that what I do, write, film, photograph reaches someone. That’s why, for this 2015, I’m planing to publish two posts (with informative stuff, not just random bullsh*t) a week. They will be published on Mondays and Fridays, usually in the morning. Hell yeah.

9. Go for a solo travel.

This has to do with the number 5. It is one thing that I always wanted to do but it sort of terrifies me. It’s a mixture of feelings: fear and excitement. I have many friends that have backpacked solo (i.e. totally alone, with no friends, even thought they made friends on the way) and they said that it has been one of the best experiences ever. So, this year, even if it’s for 5 days, I’d like to give it a try and see what happens.

10. Do something productive every day.

Don’t you sometimes have the feeling when you spend the whole day in bed or watching TV that it was a sort-of-lost day? Well I do. I don’t like when days go by and I don’t live them as I should have. That’s why, for this year I’d like to do something productive every day: study, write here, write somewhere else, read book, read magazine, photograph… You know what I mean. Stay cool. Stay productive.

And these are all the things that I want to achieve this year. Of course, in case you haven’t done that yet, I have a bucket list that you should definitely check. And hey, if you have good ideas to add to my bucket list, please write it down in the comment section.

I believe that luck comes if you work on it. Work hard, be constant and don’t loose hope.

The 10 things I wanted to achieve in 2014 and what really happened.

DCIM102GOPRO

On the 1st of January 2014 I published a post on my blog (written in Spanish) about the 10 things that I wanted to achieve in 2014. As the end of 2014 is getting closer, I decided to go back to this post and see if all my New Year’s Resolutions for 2014 had been conquered or not.

I’ll go one by one and see what happened:

1. Scrub in a surgery: Yey! One thing that I can cross out! I did assist in one surgery, it was a thyroidectomy (removal of the thyroid gland). It was such an experience. Even though I couldn’t stay there until the end because I almost fainted  (too many emotions and feelings all at once) but it was a remarkable day. I really can’t wait to get into my surgery scrubs again and jump (or better, enter walking calmly) into the operation room.

2. Get my driving license: Nope. Didn’t happen. Yet. Again. I’m 23 years old and I can’t drive a car. But the thing is that I never felt the need to drive one. Whenever I’m back home in Spain I go everywhere by bike or public transport (the same I do when I’m in Lithuania). Anyways, I’ll try to sort it out this upcoming 2015. Do you think it will happen? Make your bets!

3. Visit 5 new countries: This one didn’t happen either. But well, this January 2014 I was visiting for the first time Rīga (Latvia). I had been in Latvia before, but really, Daugavpils (the city I first stepped in in Latvia) was one of the most non-latvian cities I’ve seen. Almost no one spoke Latvian there. I liked the capital that much that I got back with my friends in November 2014.

Also, this summer I did my first intercontinental trip alone. I went all the way to South Korea to visit my friend and we traveled around the country. Such an amazing and memorable experience. I will definitely go back there.

So even though I didn’t visit 5 new countries (technically I only visited one new) I can’t complain at all about my trips this year. And wait for 2015, because it will be full of adventures as well!

4. Instagram more: Well, this one I totally managed to do it well. My followers number has increased, but what’s more important, we are a community there. We interact, I tell you about my trips, my day-a-day and you tell me about yours too. It is by far the social network that I love the most. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, be sure to check @fateuser and do follow me. Please. It’s for free. And I will love you forever.

5. Give a better structure to my blog: I am a very organized and perfectionist person. That’s why always if I find a better way to structure my blog I do it. Even though it takes 12 hours. I will do it anyways. If you find something confusing or it’s not clear where to find the contents in my blog, please don’t hesitate to tell me. I like everything to be «perfecto»!

6. Write more: Since I’m in the clinical years (currently I’m on my 5th year of studies – 1.5 more to go!) I don’t have all the free time that I wish for. But still I try to get some time to share things with you guys, with the «family» that fateuser.com (and all surrounding social networks) has become. I’m glad I started this and glad I’m still writing here. I think this year I wrote more often. Will try to write «more oftener» this 2015. Boy scout word!

7. Create more: Here I was making reference to the video and pictures creation. Oh boy. I think it’s the resolution that worked out the best way! I created a new youtube channel (it’s all in english folks!) and created a new flickr account (it’s all in «pictures» folks!). Be sure to check them out and tell me what you think!

8. Better my grades average: Also worked. I’m more persistent in university and also I enjoy studying more. And if you like (or love) what you do, it’s always easier to put more effort. (Self highs-five)

9. Be more constant: Tried to fight my laziness moments. Won almost all the battles. Happy about the result. End of communication.

10. Finish the biggest project I have rolling on: I did advance a bit on this. Still not going to share anything. I want it to be a surprise for y’all. But it’s going. Slowly but going.

Overall I achieved 7/10 things that I planned to do during this whole year. I’m quite glad about the result. I think that life is about this. Making goals and achieving them. I once read a sentence WITHOUT A GOAL YOU CAN’T SCORE. So ladies and gentleman, you have few days before the new chapter of our lives begins. 2015 is almost there. Are you ready to put your battle gear and fight for your dreams?

Zen Places.

Perfect landscape.
Light through.
L'Estartit
Snorkeling

There are sometimes that you are fed up of everything and you totally disconnect with the outer world to enjoy the nature and the simple things in life: sunrise, sun warmth, cold, fresh air, water, breeze, wind, storm. That’s what I like to call a Zen Place.

You don’t need to be overwhelmed to go there of course, but have in mind that every time that you will go you will come back with your energy reloaded and your good mood re-activated.

To the question mountain or sea? I can’t really choose one answer. They are both so different and yet so magical. My connection with the sea is especial: since I was 13 (or so) years old I started snorkeling with my parents and sister, and the fact that every-single-time I was pushing more and more to try to reach more depth, woah, that really fulfills me. Not so long time ago I had the chance to experience a new kind of interaction with the sea.

I got my first skis on when I was 7 years old and since then I totally fell in love with the snow and the mountains. The feeling of the speed, the cold air, the sound of your skis sliding the snow… That’s amazing. I truly can’t wait for the winter to come. I would like to cross out one of the things on my bucket list: heli-ski. Which basically is you get into a helicopter, they «fly you» to the top of the mountain and you ski all the way down to the bottom. 100% pure virgin snow.

We will see how that works.

Enjoy the rest of the summer,

Peace.

How things are going to be working from now on.

Bukchon Village
Keeping an order (or trying to be organized) with the posts and videos it’s been such a challenge for me. Since the beginning of this year I was posting one weekly video on youtube.com/fateuser. At the beginning it was super fun. Later on, as happened with my 365 Days project I sort of lost the motivation and it was too demanding for me (need to have in mind that I’m studying medicine, which takes 80% of my free time. The other 20% I use it for sleeping).

After that, I also opened a «secondary» YouTube channel. I am using the » » because from now on that will be my main channel.

And I will tell you why.

Lots of my followers a.k.a. the lovely people that check what I do can’t speak spanish. And having a YouTube channel where I would only put spanish speaking videos wouldn’t make so much sense, because almost all of you wouldn’t understand that. That’s why I decided to open the English Channel and since more and more people are subscribing to it, I’m going to keep it as the main channel. On the other one… well, we will see if I post anything or not!

Getting back to the topic, from now on, I’ll be posting on my blog one post weekly. On Mondays. Don’t know exact time yet. So remember that even though sometimes (or always) Mondays suck, you’ll be having new stuff on my blog. ISN’T THAT WONDERFULLLY AMAZING? Videos I’ll keep posting them on Thursdays  but that’s where the new thing comes. I won’t be posting a video on a weekly basis. That’s because I’d like to post videos when I have cool stuff to show and when I think that they are interesting/entertaining enough for you. I don’t want to feel the pressure to post shitty videos to fulfill the «self-imposed-programme».

And last but not least, you will be having almost every single day, if not more than once per day new pictures and anecdotes on InstagramSo if you don’t follow me yet, be sure to check my profile out!

Peace peeps!

First thoughts about Korea

So I’ve been almost two weeks in this lovely country and I think I start to get few ideas on how things work here. (If I am completely wrong, please forgive me, I’m just a newbie here).

1. Korea is a country of contrasts.

The high skyscrapers surround the old and millenary palaces found all over the city in Seoul. It’s like the new and glassy buildings protect (or in a way, keep in the shadow) the old and classy constructions from the different dynasties that ruled the country. Also you get to see super cars and lots of technology and around the corner you find people looking for food in the trash. It’s like if there wasn’t a medium class. You are either wealthy of really poor.

2. Baseball is the religion here.

As in Lithuania the basketball is the religion, here in Korea the master sport is the baseball. They have a major league with 9 teams (soon to be 10) and almost always all the tickets are sold out. The great thing about the Korean peeps, is that they don’t get angry nor aggressive when their team looses, they just accept it. Well, they might get angry too but they don’t fight each other in a hooliganish way.

I even became a fan of LG TWINS (even though the first time I saw them playing they lost).

3. Food is very tasty and spicy.

I can consider myself as a spicy food lover. Even once I tried the spiciest pepper in Mexico. But here almost all the food is spicy. Even the Kimchi, that they eat every single day.

4. Ancient & New. All together.

As I mentioned before about the contrasts. One of the most beautiful things is to see palaces (like in this picture) surrounded by amazingly high and new buildings. So spectacular.

5. Protection and security are very important.

I think I have never seen that many policemen together anywhere.

So, until here the first main opinions that I got from my first few days in this amazing Asian and powerful country. Will update you if something changes.

Peace!

Welcoming the summer with a barbecue

Parrilla-2

Cumplegon

That’s one thing my friends and I try to do as often as we can. Gather all together, tons of food, lots of beer and chill. Good vibes. I really enjoy those meetings because as I’m the only one that is living abroad (not in Spain) I tend to miss much stuff that is going on here, so I use that kind of events to stay updated about my friends’ life and adventures.

We always have kind of the same problem: too much food. Really. We try our best to not buy much more than needed, but we never succeed.

In Spain, and especially in the region I grew in we do the barbecue in a different way: as you can see on the second picture, the branches that we use to get the hot ashes are from vine plants (yes, the ones where the grapes grow from). La Rioja is a very famous county for its wine, that’s why we have lots and lots of vine plants all over the landscape.

I do feel the difference when using different types of firewood.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: we almost burnt to the ground my friend’s place. But that’s another story to tell!

Thoughts on being a one-day-photographer

Photol-34

Few weeks ago I was asked to take the official photos  (click on the link to see them) and video of the Third International Food Festival Event held in my university (LSMU) here in Kaunas. I indeed felt that I had a huge task to perform and wanted to do it as good as I could (I’m kind of a super perfectionist person, nothing to do with OCD I swear) and wanted to better myself from 2 years ago.

I was very excited about this and I turned out pretty well. I couldn’t enjoy the festival that much (I mean, I was given lots of food by people surround me, which was quite cool, but I couldn’t stop «working» for more than 20 min) because I didn’t want to miss anything and try to tape and take pictures of everything. In the end I was very exhausted. But very happy with the result.

Since then I was asked two more timeto make private videos for private events. Unfortunately I won’t be doing them this year, because I have no free time after my academic year is done. I will tell you why soon, stay tuned. It’s going to be BIG. The fact that the people enjoy my video editing and my pictures makes me think that maybe I should start filming & editing videos on a freelance way. Which, in other words means, start getting paid for it.

But truly, I have no idea if that would work or how much money I should ask for it.

What do you guys think? Should I start asking money for those kind of events? (for the food festival I won’t, it is always on a charity basis). Let me know that on the comment section down below and have an awesome day!!

*Extra:

Here’s the final edit of the event. I hope you enjoy it!

I’ve been wondering how do you guys enjoy my blog. What you like, or what you dislike. And it’s now when you can tell me all that stuff. I would really appreciate if you would answer this. It is completely anonymous and it will help me a lot!

Thanks!!

¿Qué propósitos te has planteado este año? ¡¡Déjamelo en los comentarios!!
